Homework April 13 - 17

 

Read 20 minutes each night and track minutes on RTSUtah.com 

 

Write 20 Spelling words three times each. *If students earn less than an 80%, they will have to write words 6 times the next week.  Spelling Test Friday.

 

Math- Monday Lesson 11-6 HW, Tuesday Chapter Review pgs 761-763 HW, Wednesday Test and Lesson 12-3 HW, Thursday Lesson 12-6 HW, Friday ch 12 test. As you can see, we are moving quickly through chapter 12. We are mostly just touching on the concepts. We wil also move quickly through chapter 13, as it hs been reviewed all year in class via daily warmups (perimeter and area). 

 

Science - Students have finished the majority of the Utah Science curriculum for the year.  Students have been assigned a topic from the year to make a presentation on. They will be making Power Point presentations in class during computer time. These presentations will take place this week in class. 

 

Social Studies - We are studying the settlement of Utah, and the challenges of gaining statehood. Students have designed a city in class with a group. We will back off on Social Studies a little bit until after Math, ELA, and Science Sage tests are completed. We will then focus more on the remaining Social Studies topics at the end of the school year. 

 

 

Homework April 7 - 10

 

Read 20 minutes each night and track minutes on RTSUtah.com Most students are choosing to read the Book Review Novel that is due Monday.

 

Write 20 Spelling words three times each. *If students earn less than an 80%, they will have to write words 6 times the next week.  Spelling Test Friday.

 

Math - Lesson 11-1 Tuesday, 11-2 Wednesday, 11-4 Thursday. No Homework Friday. Quiz Friday.

 

Science - Students have finished the majority of the Utah Science curriculum for the year.  Students have been assigned a topic from the year to make a presentation on. They will be making Power Point presentations in class during computer time.

 

Social Studies - We are studying the settlement of Utah, and the challenges of gaining statehood.

Math - Lesson 10-7 HW Monday, 10-8 HW Tuesday, review all of Chapter 10 as HW on Wednesday, No HW Thursday Test Thirsday,  no HW Friday.

 

Times tables tests this week for ice cream: Monday 6's, Tuesday 8's, Wednesday 12's, Thursday makeups. Remember that students must pass all tests to get any ice cream. Ms Thompson and the other two room moms are planning this, so look for more information about how you can help in your emails.

Social Studies - We are studying the pioneers who made the hard journey to Utah by the 1860's. If you know that someone in your family came across, we would love any persoonal stories or information that you may have.

Write 15 Spelling words three times each. Due Friday Spelling Test Friday.

 

Math - Lesson 10-1 HW Monday, 10-2 HW Tuesday, 10-3 HW Wednesday, 10-4 HW Thursday,  Quiz & no HW Friday.

We are starting to really test times tables, so all students should be practicing them at home each night.

 

Science - Students are learning about fossils; how they form, what types there are, and what they tell us about the past. Students may be expected to do some research, but most of the work will be done in class this week.

 

Social Studies - We may be doing a family history project soon as we begin learning about Utah's settlers. If you happen to know any details about your family's geneology, it may soon be requested.

Math - Lessons 9-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-4. Quiz Friday. We took a quiz last week, so students should be bringing home the graded test this week, which they can correct (and explain the new answers) to earn points back. We are working on fractions, so please practice times tables at home if your child is still struggling with them.

 

Science - Students are researching a specific Utah dinosaur. They are mostly doing this in class, but may need to do additional research at home this week.
